For "Melody", pianist Olga Scheps has compiled her favorite melodies from Bach to Aphex Twin and surprises with well-known and unknown pieces from four centuries as well as first recordings by Sven Helbig, Vivan and Ketan Bhatti and Chilly Gonzales. A selection that is a discovery for classical music experts and fans of simply beautiful piano music alike. The ECHO award winner thus proves her unique position as a concert pianist: she can perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in the Philharmonic Hall one day and play pieces by Chilly Gonzales or Erik Satie in clubs or at pop festivals the next. On Melodie, she combines both worlds, presenting melodious and little-known classical pieces by Edward Griegs, Giovanni Sgambati or Alessandro Marcellos and combining them with some of the best-known classical melodies, such as Beethoven's "Für Elise", Chopin's Nocturne, Op. 9 or Ludovico Einaudi's "Una Mattina". She complements this sound-painting program with contemporary pieces, including "Avril 14th" by electro pioneer Aphex Twin or "Armellodie" by Chilly Gonzales. Chilly Gonzales also wrote "Olga Gigue," which the Grammy winner composed especially for Olga Scheps. Composer Sven Helbig, with whom Scheps has already collaborated on the album "100% Scooter," also developed a piano version of his orchestral piece "Am Abend" exclusively for Olga Scheps. A special highlight is the arrangement of Mussorgsky's Promenade No. 1 by Berlin composers Vivan and Ketan Bhatti. The recording is part of the soundtrack to the Flying Steps' new show "Flying Pictures".
