Sneak a peak: Joshua Bell's upcoming West Side Story Suite
Tune in to our exclusive online radio show Good Listening to hear Joshua Bell's new release of Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story Suite, due in stores in June. Recorded with David Zinman and the Philharmonia Orchestra, the album will include other Bernstein favorites. Richard Danielpour's Elegies: Frederica von Stade remembers the father she never knew
Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade's father was killed before she ever knew him. Half a century later, she honors his memory in the world premiere recording of Elegies by Richard Danielpour. In stores May 15, the new album includes an acclaimed earlier work by Danielpour, Sonnets to Orpheus with soprano Ying Huang. Hear soundclips online!
Hilary Hahn finds roots in Maryland
It's a small world indeed! In violinist Hilary Hahn's latest Postcard from the Road from southeastern Maryland, she performed with the Chesapeake Chamber Orchestra and oboist Vladimir Lande. It turns out Lande's grandfather was not only a colleague of Hilary's first teacher, but he once owned the violin Hilary now plays. Hilary is now on a whirlwind tour of Germany -- get the details at her website.
