CLASSICAL NEWS

NEW RELEASE: Isaac Stern -- In Celebration and Tribute
A lasting tribute and celebration of a tremendous life, featuring never-before-seen photos, previously unreleased material, including Bach Partita No. 1 for solo violin -- Stern's only recording of the Bach Suites for solo violin. This album is a must-have for both Isaac Stern and consummate classical music listeners.

"Isaac Stern was a musical giant and a great person who gave the world some of the most fantastic beauty. If the definition of a genius is that of someone who can positively transform people's lives, then I know for sure that he was a genius, because he certainly had an impact not only on my own life, but also on the lives of many others."
-- Yefim Bronfman

Classic FM Magazine Reviews Bach: 6 Violin Sonatas
Giuliano Carmignola (Violin), Andrea Marcon (Harpsichord)

"Thank goodness we are re-entering a period in which performers seek to draw out the dance-like quality of Bach's music, rather than approaching it as an intellectual challenge. Both Carmignola and Marcon have artistic flare aplenty, and when they pool their talents, as they do here, sparks really fly. In the Six Sonatas for violin and harpsichord, Bach frees the latter instrument from its dreary continuo role, letting it compete with the violin. This makes for some intricate interplay where the melody passes back and forth from one instument to the other. Fabulous!"
--John Brunning, Classic FM Magazine, July 2002

Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Marsalis along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (LCJO), the Paul Smith Singers/The Northridge Singers of CSUN and the Morgan State University Choir.
Read more about Wynton Marsalis.

"All Rise celebrates togetherness and ascendance, in the context of the Blues. The Blues has elements of folk music from all over the world. The Blues is an attitude towards life, which celebrates transcendence through acceptance of what is."
