The last testament of a genius Mozart did not live to finish his setting of the Requiem, a tale dramatized in the film Amadeus. Yet his Requiem endures as the last testament of a genius, and it is one of the most haunting and powerfully affecting choral works ever written. Requiem K.626 features Arleen Augér, soprano; Carolyn Watkinson, alto; Siegfried Jerusalem, tenor; and Siegmund Nimsgern, bass; with Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart and the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart conducted by Helmuth Rilling. Also included on this CD is Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate K.165 (158a) featuring soprano Judith Blegen and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra conducted by Pinchas Zukerman.
