SAINT PAUL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA Mozart: Violin Concertos Nos.4 and 5; Adagio; Rondo Pinchas Zukerman
|
The violin and the human voice Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his last violin concerto at the age of 19. Perhaps his later abandonment of the violin concerto can be traced to his relentless father -- himself a violinist -- who had hawked his children to the courts of Europe as if they were a pair of talented monkeys. But with his growing affection for the human voice, Mozart fills these later works for violin and orchestra with the feeling that they can be as easily sung as played. On this CD, Pinchas Zukerman and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra perform the Concertos for Violin & Orchestra Concerto No.4 in D Major, K.218 and No.5 in A Major, K.219, as well as the Adagio for Violin & Orchestra in E Major, K.261 and Rondo for Violin & Orchestra in C Major, K.373.
