Grand expressions from a poet of the piano

A native of Poland who spent most of his career in Paris, Frédéric Chopin was the poet of the piano among Romantic composers. He wrote only two piano concertos: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.1 in E Minor, Op.11, performed here by Emil Gilels with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy, and Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.2 in F Minor, Op.21, performed by André Watts with Thomas Schippers conducting the New York Philharmonic. Both works reflect the eloquent passion of his unique style as well as the dance rhythms of his native land in their vigorous concluding movements.

Essential Classics is the perfect starting point for any classical collection. Truly the finest recordings of the world's most beautiful music, Essential Classics offers all music fans the opportunity to enjoy classical music at an affordable price.

Essential Classics showcases premier performances. Each release features sterling sound quality, comprehensive liner notes, and a detailed description of the performance on the back of the CD, providing an easy-to-grasp explanation of the significance of those particular works.
