"I Thought About You" nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo
"This quietly dazzling album by a septet led by jazz trumpeter Blanchard is ideal for a contemplative Sunday afternoon. Evoking the breezy cool of Chet Baker, Blanchard's virtues spring from his sense of restraint. The joy is in the tease... Unless you're Judith Jamison or Twyla Tharp, you probably can't dance to this album, but you can think to it. Be thankful for small favors. Bottom Line: Welcome return of 'cool' jazz."

Despite his acclaim and success in the world of film score composition (Time Out New York calls him "the jazz generation's premier film-scoring machine"), Terence Blanchard is first and foremost a jazz musician. Since his days with Art Blakey, Blanchard has matured to become one of the most important musician-composer-bandleaders of his generation. Twice-nominated for Grammy Awards and winner of the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque (for his 1984 album New York Second Line), Terence returns to his roots as a straight-ahead jazz musician with his new Sony Classical release Wandering Moon.
This is Terence's first album of pure jazz for a small ensemble in nearly five years, in which he is joined by guest artists Branford Marsalis and Dave Holland. The album's ten tracks feature eight original Blanchard compositions, delivered with superb artistry by the phenomenal band Terence has assembled.
Wandering Moon represents an intensely personal statement about his life traveling around the world "all for the chance to play a style of music I love for people who have the same passion. Just the thought of the moon passing over loved ones in a few hours can be a comforting thought. This project represents the ongoing balancing act between husband, lover, father, friend and musician," says Terence. He will be traveling again to support this new release, with a touring schedule that takes him across most of the country in several months. He is set to repeat the success of 1999's critically-acclaimed Jazz in Film (SK 60671).
