Yefim BRONFMAN Isaac STERN Bartók Sonatas for Violin and Piano
|
On Bartók: Sonatas for Violin and Piano two of the biggest stars in the classical music world reunite to record two of the most challenging works ever written for violin and piano. Isaac Stern and Yefim Bronfman share a unique musical rapport, taking obvious pleasure in complementing and challenging one another in recording after recording. Bartók's sonatas, once considered a difficult listening experience, now shine ever brighter as today's audience opens its ears and hearts to their elegant angularity and the intense lyricism which derives from Hungarian folk influences. Stern and Bronfman, whose past collaborations The Strad has called "cultured and graceful," prove the perfect contemporary interpreters for Bartók's music. As Gramophone insists, the two "just play the music as it should be played."
