Jubilant Sykes' debut recording is Jubilant, a collaboration with jazz trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard that redefines the sound of traditional American spirituals and hymns.

"When I first heard a spiritual, in its purest form, it was sung by Leontyne Price," Jubilant recalls, "and the glory of her voice, the truth of the words, the impact they had on her life -- it made me examine my life, what it is I believe as a person, what it is I want to say as a singer."

Jubilant Sykes was cited by Sacred Music USA in 1996 as Vocalist of the Year, and has sung at the Metropolitan Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Boston Pops, among others.
