Alban Berg's masterpiece is presented here in this historic 1951 Carnegie Hall recording featuring Eileen Farrell, Mack Harrel, Joseph Mordino, and Ralph Herbert. Expertly conducted by Dmitri Mitropolous, this recording of Wozzeck is considered a landmark, enshrining a performance that helped to relaunch this score in the United States. It also became a benchmark for later versions (the first complete studio recording did not appear until fourteen years later).

Rediscover this classic recording, grouped with impressive 1951 recordings of Schoenberg's "Erwartung" with Dorothy Dow, and Krenek's moving "Symphony Elegy", in a two-disc set that has been carefully remastered for optimal sound quality. This special imported Masterworks Heritage package includes rare archival photographs, an introduction by the Earl of Harewood, and a detailed synopsis, plus a complete libretto of the opera!
