György LIGETI Ligeti: Keyboard Works Ligeti Edition Volume 6
|
The award-winning György Ligeti Edition presents the works of one of the late-20th century's most influential and admired creative figures, who has created a body of work at once compelling, challenging, mesmerizing, atmospheric and brilliantly conceived. Here the music receives definitive performances by some of the most important interpreters of contemporary music of our day, all supervised by the composer, who has written new liner notes for each volume. Each volume in the edition sheds light on a different aspect of Ligeti's multi-faceted career, but all the performances are marked by meticulous technique, emotional honesty and utmost authenticity. Volume Six of the series features the composer's music for solo piano, four-hand piano, two pianos, harpsichord, and organ. These works span Ligeti's development from his student days during World War II, when he was influenced by Stravinsky and Bartók, to his visionary style of the late 1970s. The album includes the world premiere recording of "Five pieces for Piano Four-Hands".
