American Journey
American Journey
Legendary American composer John Williams conducted "Call Of The Champions" -- the official theme of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games -- during the opening ceremonies from Salt Lake City, joined by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Utah Symphony. This new piece, composed by Williams especially for these Olympic Winter Games, is the opening track on his new album American Journey (SK 89364). The album title comes from Williams' six-movement composition of the same name, which was composed for the Millennium celebrations in Washington, D.C., and has never before been available on disc

"This is an attempt to portray the 20th century thematically", says Williams -- "we wanted people to take heed but take heart at the same time, and have this be an uplifting experience." American Journey is presented here for the first time as a complete concert work. The CD features over a dozen original tracks by Williams, plus an added bonus -- "Summon The Heroes", the anthem written for the '96 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.

.Greatest Hits
John Williams Greatest Hits 1969-1999 is a celebration of John Williams' career from one of his earliest movie scores, The Reivers (the one that first brought him to the attention of a young director named Steven Spielberg), to last summer's biggest smash, Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. With instantly recognizable tracks, Greatest Hits 1969-1999 is an amazing journey through some of the most unforgettable movie experiences of two generations. From the hauntingly terrifying opening notes from Jaws, to the triumphant "Flying Theme" from E.T., to the somber pride of Saving Private Ryan, John Williams' music is forever linked to our images of these films. This is the ultimate CD that every movie buff must have in their collection.

Williams' latest installment in the most successful series of film scores in history!

"John Williams deserves our applause for introducing yet another generation to the symphonic tradition, and perhaps inspiring these young people to embrace classical-based music in their lives."
-- Gramophone August 1999

"Once again, John Williams has exceeded my expectations and produced a lavish, rich, moving and thrilling score. Every fan of Star Wars -- and of great music -- is in his debt."
 George Lucas
