"...each installment of in the Star Wars saga inevitably delivers a wealth of wonderful music. Star Wars: Epsiode II Attack of the Clones is no exception, and the new soundtrack... showcases an intoxicating assortment of well-known motifs, fresh arrangements and altogether enthralling sonic delights."
-- Scifi.com, May 2002

Williams on Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones: "The 'Star Wars' films are basically silent movies and they're designed as silent movies. Therefore, the music carries a very large role in carrying the story... more than it would in a normal movie," he said. "Most movies, the story is carried by the dialogue, in 'Star Wars' films, the music carries the story... so the music is extremely important, as it would be in a silent movie."

Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
On Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams, Williams wrote three of the four works heard with the world famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma in mind -- the Cello Concerto, Three Pieces for Solo Cello, and Heartwood for Cello and Orchestra. Ma also plays the recording premiere of Williams' Elegy for Cello and Orchestra, which was written (for piano and cello) for a memorial service for the young children of a close friend. The composer orchestrated the work especially for this recording, and the album was released in celebration of John Williams' 70th birthday, which he celebrated in February of 2002.
