A labor of love from pianist Murray Perahia, Sony Classical's Alfred Cortot Ð The Master Classes takes listeners on a very special trip through musical history, back to the master classes led by the legendary pianist Alfred Cortot in Paris between 1954 and 1960. The three-disc set features Cortot's spoken remarks from the classes Ð transcribed, with English translations, in the accompanying booklet Ð as well as his complete or partial performances of many works he never formally recorded.
