Dear Readers:
Hello -- and welcome to my web site.
I'm a concert violinist, age 21, and I travel around the world giving performances. You may have seen me on television, or read about me somewhere, or met me after I gave a recital or played with an orchestra in your area. I record exclusively for Sony Classical, and my debut album, Hilary Hahn Plays Bach, has been in stores since I was 17. My second CD, a disc of violin concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven and Leonard Bernstein, came out in January 1999. My third recording -- combining the Violin Concerto of Samuel Barber with a wonderful new concerto written for me by Edgar Meyer -- was released in the spring of 2000.
I enjoy writing, so about two years ago I asked Sony if I could send some electronic postcards to my web site, supplemented by pictures from a digital camera. The idea was to give you, my readers, a glimpse into what is -- for me -- my everyday life. Sony liked the idea, and in December 1998 "Hilary's Journal: Postcards from the Road" was born. Thanks to your interest, it now contains more than 100 entries (and more than 1500 photos) from places as diverse as Jerusalem, Spain, Australia, California and Japan, and they describe everything from Carnegie Hall to a dog that I met in upstate New York.
Coming soon will be trips to London (for the Last Night of the Proms), New York, Tokyo, Paris, and many other regions (for more exact information, you can click on the tour schedule heading on this web site). For now, let me simply say, "Welcome to my Journal." I hope you enjoy it.
Yours from the road,
Hilary

Since the winter of 1999, Hilary Hahn has been keeping an online journal of her travels throughout the USA, Europe, Australia and Asia. Log on and follow her journey, as she describes in virtual "Postcards from the Road" what she is seeing and doing along the way, both onstage and off.
Click on the Index of Postcards to find specific dates and places, or just start with the Latest Entry. Year 2000 and 2001 Postcards are here at HilaryHahn.com, while 1999 Postcards are at the web site for Hilary's Beethoven and Bernstein album.
"What an enormously good idea, to allow the artist to send out postcards to her fans... Hilary's notes are wonderfully unpretentious... Hilary, your playing is wonderful, and so are your postcards."
